Wolfgang "Lucky" Weichenthal, 87, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was born in Germany on November 5, 1936 the son of the late Kurt and Ella (Steinke) Weichenthal and graduated from high school in Germany. He came to the United State in 1954 and later served with the US Army from 1960-1962. He was shop foreman with the Yates County Highway Department for 29 years. He previously worked at Seneca Foods in Dundee. He was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Weichenthal of Penn Yan; two sons, Eric (Lori) Weichenthal of Canandaigua and Michael Weichenthal of Penn Yan; a sister, Helga Mitchell of Rochester; grandchildren, Kaitlin Weichenthal and Mark Chamberlain; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Helmet and Gunter Weichenthal. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. His service will begin at 12:00 pm followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Keuka Comfort Care, 35 State Route 54, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
