Susan T. Gute, 84, a longtime resident of Penn Yan, NY, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. She was born in Callicoon, NY on May 2, 1940 the daughter of the late Lester F. Gute and Theresa B. Deckelman Gute. Sue grew up in Jeffersonville, NY and graduated from Jeffersonville Central School in 1958. She graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1962 with a BA in Elementary Education and Physical Education. Sue began teaching Physical Education at Penn Yan Academy in the fall of 1962 and retired from the school district after 34 years. Sue was a very popular soccer coach, leading the soccer teams to many successful seasons. Sue loved playing golf and was a member of the Lakeside Country Club. She also loved skiing. She is survived by her sister, Judith (R.K.) House of Idaho Falls, ID; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Bill (Rosemary) Gute of Juneau, AK. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Obernburg, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Lakeside Country Club, 145 E.
