Obituary

Ruth Lena Celentano, age 95, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on February 6, 2025 at the Keuka Comfort Care Home. Ruth was born on May 25, 1929 in Penn Yan, NY to the late Fred and Lena (Bassage) Fox. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony Celentano; and by her 14 siblings. She is survived by nephew, Doug Baker and his daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Venema and Faith Ann; nephew, Randy (Susan) Baker, along with their children Dusty and Tori; stepson Louis R. Celentano; her step-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews from several generations. Ruth worked for several local businesses for many years, including Michael Sterns and Allison in Geneva before taking a position in the central supply department at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan, NY, retiring after 11 years of service. Ruth was also active in her community, as a member of the Penn Yan American Legion and VFW, along with the Women of the Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed going to the casino and playing Bingo. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 East Elm St. Penn Yan, NY. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan, NY at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
