IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois J.
Van Gorder
November 30, 1925 – August 4, 2025
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Lois J. Van Gorder, who passed away peacefully at the age of 99. A devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter and unwavering spirit.
Born in 1926, Lois married Lyle Van Gorder and raised four children, Susan, Linda, Beth and Scott, while they lived in Ithaca, NY for most of their years. She spent many of the subsequent years in Penn Yan, NY, living down the street from her brother Bob. She spent her final days in Phoenix, NY, living close to her daughter Beth and grandkids.
A passionate supporter of the Buffalo Bills, Lois never missed a game. Her loyalty to the team was matched only by her love of chocolate and her cute giggles, which delighted her many grandchildren. Whether cheering from her living room or sharing stories over dessert, she brought joy and comfort to those around her.
Lois is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were touched by her kindness and humor. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 10-11am at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 East Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Lois will be laid to rest at Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy a piece of chocolate, share a giggle, and root for the Bills – just as she would have wanted.
