Linda L. Sorensen, 79, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2026.
Linda was born on November 2, 1946, in Penn Yan, NY. She married her high school sweetheart, Allen, and lived on a farm before building their dream home, which she and her son carefully designed.
A skilled professional seamstress for many years, Linda served numerous customers with dedication and care. She was also passionate about gardening, camping, and quilting, often making quilts for each of her grandchildren. Cooking brought her joy, especially making pancakes for the little ones in the family.
Linda greatly valued family traditions and took delight in creating memorable experiences with her loved ones. She enjoyed trips to the blueberry farm with her grandchildren and the annual making of Christmas cut-out cookies. Each grandchild received a unique Christmas ornament handpicked by Linda, a special way she showed her affection and love during the holiday season.
For over 12 winters, Linda spent time in Zephyrhills, FL, where she developed many friendships. She was fond of participating in clubhouse activities such as euchre and hand and foot. Thursday nights were particularly special to her, as she gathered with friends for dinner and cards at the Penn Yan Moose Lodge.
Linda is deeply missed by her husband Allen, with whom she shared a loving marriage of 61 years; her mother, Eloise Titus; her children Mindy (Mike) Alden, Joe (Sue) Sorensen, and Mike (Doreen) Sorensen; her grandchildren Amanda (Pat) Manning, Jon (Becky) Alden, Ryan (Brittney) Sorensen, Sarah (Cody) Whitney, Marissa, and Matthew Sorensen; and her great-grandchildren Alexa, Mady, Piper, Teddy, Owen, and Hazel. She is also survived by her siblings Steve (Diane) Pinneo, Rick (Betty) Pinneo, Barb (Phil) Viele, Vicki (Mike) Pedersen, Becky (Lee) Pinneo, Jamie (Charlene) Pinneo, Helen (John) Kniffin, Diana (Frank) Alvaro, Ruby (Earl) Christensen, Norma (Roger) Christensen, and Doris (Art) Colegrove, as well as her aunt Marlene Daines and several nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her stepfather Levi Titus, father Clarence Pinneo, maternal grandmother Neva Clark, siblings, Carol Pinneo and Dana (Angie) Hansen, and her beloved dog Mattie.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, and treasured traditions. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her warmth, kindness, and devotion will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Linda will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Penn Yan Moose Lodge, located at 301 East Elm Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
