Garrett A. Dunbar, Sr.

Garrett Anthony Dunbar, Sr., 64, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

He was born in Syracuse, NY on September 6, 1961 the son of Robert A. Dunbar II and Doris Jean Hill. Garrett served as an Airmen in the US Air Force from 1979-1980.

Garrett is survived by his companion of 13 years, Nicole Ellis; daughters, Antanasha Dunbar of NC, Shaunita McClinton of NC, Chantelle of Buffalo, NY, Dannyelle Dunbar of Davenport, IA, Kimahri Dunbar of Naples, NY; sons, Garrett Dunbar, Jr. of East Greenbush, NY, Tremaine Dunbar of Davenport, IA, Jace Ridley and Trent Ridley of Bath, NY, Cameron Miles (Hannah Fitzwater) of Keuka Park, NY, Trevon Miles of Penn Yan, NY and Ryan Squires of Bath, NY; step-daughters, Shaylee Ridley of Bath, NY, Mariah Hand (Joshua Burleigh) of Penn Yan, NY and Debra Harris of Penn Yan, NY; step-son, Aden Hand of Penn Yan, NY; two brothers, Robert Dunbar, III of MD and Wesley Dunbar of NC; two step sisters, Aloma Davis and Sherron Mays-Hammer both of Buffalo, NY; fourteen grandchildren; seven nephews and two nieces.

He was predeceased by a son, Tabien Dunbar-Miles on May 1, 2008; father, Robert Dunbar II on June 6, 2010; mother, Doris Hill on January 19, 1991; step mother, Sheryl Dunbar on May 1, 2023; brother, Franklin Dunbar on June 14, 1993.and special friend, Janice Zyla aka “Ma” on October 11, 2021
