Elizabeth A. "Betty" Turner Castner, 93, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Geneva General Hospital.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 3-5 pm at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Michael's Church, 312 Liberty St., Penn Yan. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to St. Michael's School or Keuka Comfort Care.

Betty was born on May 12, 1932, the daughter of the late William P. and Monica Beauchamp Prendergast. Betty attended St. Michael's School for 8 years, graduated from Penn Yan Academy and Rochester Business Institute. She was a member of the NYSEG Quarter Century Club and the Women of the Moose. Betty was an avid blood donor and an Election Inspector for many years. She retired from NYSEG, then worked part time at Cole's Furniture Store and did a lot of volunteer work. Betty always enjoyed her home, knitting, crocheting, flowers and being with family. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church.

She is survived by her special nieces and nephews that she was very close to, Nancy (Don) D'Amico, Stephen (Cindy) Swarthout, Judy (Ken) Brink, Brian (Judy) Swarthout; stepchildren and their families, Linda (Stephen) Staples, Julie Castner, Sharon (Robert) Langer, Brian (Jane) Castner, Mary (Adrian) Tyndell, and Harley Turner; several great nephews and a niece as well as two great great nieces and one great great nephew.

Betty was predeceased by her two husbands, Albert F. Turner in 1973 and E. Robert Castner in 2009; sister, Mary Swarthout Legg; brother-in-law, J. Ross Swarthout; step-son, Bernie Castner; and step-mother, Margaret E. Prendergast.
