Doris M. Nesbit, age 85, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away Wednesday, June 10th, 2020. Doris was born in the Town of Jerusalem, NY on October 12th, 1934, the daughter of the late, Wesley Bowen and Bessie Mae (Burk) Hibbard. Doris grew up as a farm girl, doing chores and preparing meals for the family. She had worked as a vineyardist and a care giver. Doris met the love of her life, Edwin Riley Nesbit, and they were married on December 1st, 1951. She enjoyed growing a large garden and was an active member of the Yatesville United Methodist Church. She loved reading Amish Books and had quite a collection of them. Doris was an amazing mother and family was everthing to her. In her later years, Doris became a "Grandma" again, "Riley Mae Nesbit" and "Grandma" had a special bond together that brought such joy in each others lives. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who are comforted with the thoughts that Heaven now has another Angel. Doris is survived by her children, Wes (Elaine) Nesbit of Brachport, NY, Hazel (Curt) Hoose of Branchport, Sally (Walter) Ovenshire of Dundee, Betty Nesbit of Penn Yan, and Terry (Kelley) Nesbit of Little Falls; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother, Leslie Hibbard of Tucson, AZ; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Dottie. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Riley Nesbit; daughter, Marjorie Nesbit Emerson; brother, Fred Hibbard, sister, Judy Zimmerman; and mother in law, Mildred Nesbit. A private graveside service will be held at Bitley Cemetery in Branchport, NY at the convenience of her family.
