Derrick J. “Rick” Fredericksen
Age 70, of Penn Yan passed away on March 18, 2026. Rick was born in Pontiac, MI and was the eldest son of the late Karl E. and Hannelore “Laura” Durr Fredericksen. In-addition to his parents Rick was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Fredericksen. Rick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alissa & Adam Plowman of Laingsburg MI with their children Abigial and Alexander; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Antonia Eddy of North Branch MI with their son’s Kevin, Ricky and Shawn. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Brown of Waterford MI, Margaret McLaughlin of Sun City West AZ, David (Lisa) Fredericksen of Milford MI, and Jeffery (Claris) Fredericksen of Pontiac MI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1980. Employee of KanPak for nearly 10 years. He played the tuba and was a member of the Finger Lakes Community Concert Band, also a member of the Penn Yan American Legion Post #355 and Penn Yan Moose Lodge #2030. Rick was an avid Harley Davidson rider and loved to cruise up and down the lakes on his bike. Most of all, family was important to Rick. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and committal prayers and placement of Rick’s cremains with military honors will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
