Obituary

David F. Shaw, age 81, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021. David was born in Ithaca, NY on March 13th, 1940, the son of the late, Francis and Genevieve (Troy) Shaw. He attended Clarkson College and earned his Masters Degree from Syracuse University. Since graduating Penn Yan was where he called home. He was an electrical engineer for Kodak in Rochester, NY. Dave had a love and compassion for aviation and as a certified flight instructor he enjoyed helping teach others to fly. Dave was a member of the Penn Yan Flying Club, Inc. and had made the club and membership his home and family. He was also a member of the QB (Quiet Birdmen), the EAA ( Experimental Aircraft Association), AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), and for many years he was very active in the Geneseo War Plane Museum. At the Geneseo War Plane Museum, he specialized in flying WWII aircraft that included the PBY, B-17 and the DC-3. Friends and family may call from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, November 1st, 2021at Townsend Wood & Zinger funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. His funeral will follow at the funeral home at 7:30pm. Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 at St. Michael's Cemetery in Penn Yan.
